Change your YouTube name - can you do it later?

Your YouTube name is closely linked to your Google profile. If you want to change your channel name on the video platform, you can do so either via your Google account or via YouTube Studio.

Now how do you change the name?

When you change your name on YouTube, the name of your Google account is also changed. Keep that in mind if it's an important or work-related email address.

1. Open this Google profile page to go directly to the name change.
2. Alternatively, open the YouTube website and click on the profile photo in the top right corner.
3. Open "YouTube Studio".
4. Select "Customize" on the left.
5. Under the "General Information" tab, you can click the pencil icon to the right of your name and then change your YouTube name.

New channel name in the app

It's not only in the browser that you can change the name for your YouTube channel. If you are currently on Android or iPhone, proceed as follows:

1. Open the YouTube app.
2. Tap on your profile picture and select "My Channel".
3. Tap on "Edit" and tap on your name to be able to change it.
