Stripping antenna cable - this is what you should pay attention to
If you want to lay an antenna cable in various rooms, it may well happen that this has to be extended. In this case, the cable must also be stripped. To avoid damage, it may be useful to use the appropriate tool. In addition, there are other points to consider.
This is how you can strip an antenna cable
If you want to strip your antenna cable, then you first need the right tool. To be able to cut the cable as precisely as possible, you need a wire stripper. This will prevent you from damaging the inner conductor or the shielding. You will also need a so-called F-connector. With this, you can then connect the cable to the TV connection. Here, however, you also need a compression pliers to fix the plug permanently. More practical here is a Cablecon, an F-connector, where no pliers are needed.- With the stripper, you now remove about 12 mm of the sheathing of the cable.
- After that, you expose about 8 mm of the inner conductor of the cable.
- Now turn the F-connector clockwise on the cable. Usually 1 mm of the conductor should protrude at the front of the cable. Now you can attach the conductor depending on the F-connector used on the cable.
- After that, connect it to the TV connection in the appropriate room.
