Minecraft RTX: System Requirements & Info

Minecraft apparently knows no expiration date. As of April 2020, there is even an RTX version that makes the blocks look much more impressive. We explain what technology is required for this.

Exclusively for GeForce owners: the beta of Minecraft RTX addresses ray tracing graphics cards.

Ray tracing is a technology from Nvidia, the manufacturer of GeForce graphics cards. This already makes it clear what the system requirements are.

Minecraft RTX Beta: Graphics card the crucial system requirement

To try out the Minecraft RTX beta for yourself, you must have a suitable graphics card.

• This includes all GeForce models with the starting numbers 16 and 20.
• Recommended for a stable and smooth game with RTX, however, is at least a GeForce RTX 2060, which should enable 1080p at 60 FPS.

It is equally logical that the RTX beta is only available for the PC version of Minecraft. To do this, you need to install the Xbox Insider Hub, where you can select the RTX Beta when you launch Minecraft. There are also six pre-made maps available to illustrate the effects; these are available from the Microsoft Store or the Minecraft Marketplace.
