How to calculate your bachelor's grade yourself

To calculate what your overall grade will be at the end of your bachelor's program, it is important to consider the weighting of grades. In the Bachelor's program, grades are weighted according to ECTS credits, which means that it is not possible to simply add up the grades and then divide them by their number. In order to calculate your Bachelor grade correctly nevertheless, please proceed as follows:
  1. Multiply the grade of each subject by the respective number of ECTS points you receive for the subject.
  2. Then add all products calculated in this way and additionally calculate the sum of all ECTS.
  3. To get your current Bachelor grade, please divide the sum of the products of grade * ECTS by the sum of all ECTS in the end.

Calculate Bachelor grade: How Excel helps

If the manual calculation of the Bachelor grade is too cumbersome for you, you can also use Excel. Create a table with four columns and enter the name of the course, the grade and the ECTS points in the first three columns. Then enter the formula "=B1*C1" in the fields of the fourth column to multiply grades and ECTS points. At the bottom of columns 3 and 4, add an additional formula to calculate the column totals before entering a formula in another field to divide the sum of column 3 by the sum of column 4.
