Zoom: Raise your hand - how to announce yourself in the meeting

Zoom is one of the most popular applications for personal and business video conferencing. Raising your virtual hand during a Zoom meeting signals to other participants that you have something to say. This handy feature can be used in just a few steps.

How to raise your hand during a Zoom meeting

While participating in a video conference on Zoom, you have several options to interact with the other participants.
  1. In the menu, click on "Participants" to view the list of people participating in a meeting.
  2. Below this list, you will find the "Raise your hand" button, which you click for this function. Alternatively, you can also raise your hand with the key combination [Alt] + [y].
  3. In the participant list, a blue hand will now appear behind your name, signaling that you want to say something.
  4. If the audio settings are controlled by the host, he can now turn on your audio.

Can I use Zoom for free and without an account?

In the standard version, Zoom is free to use. However, calls in the free version are limited to 40 minutes and a maximum of 100 participants. If you only want to use Zoom as a participant in a video conference, you do not need an account. All you need to do is click on the email link to the meeting.
