Using WhatsApp on your desktop PC - these options are available

Instead of using WhatsApp as an app on your smartphone, you can also use it on your desktop PC to read your messages or write new ones. In this article, we explain the ways in which you can use the messenger service on your PC.

Using the web version of WhatsApp on your desktop PC

Even though WhatsApp was developed for use on cell phones, you can also use the messenger service on your desktop PC. This is made possible by the WhatsAppWeb application.

1. To use WhatsAppWeb on your PC, please first open the "Web.WhatsApp.com" page in the browser.
2. Then start WhatsApp on your smartphone, tap the "three-dot icon" and select the "WhatsAppWeb" option.
3. Confirm the message that appears to allow WhatsApp to access your camera and scan the QR code that is displayed in the browser on the PC.
4. If the connection was successful, all your chats will appear in the browser window and you will be able to write messages to your contacts.

How to install WhatsApp on your desktop PC

If you do not want to use WhatsApp directly in the browser but want to install it on your PC, please download the "WhatsApp for Windows" application from the WhatsApp website. Then run the downloaded WhatsAppSetup.exe file and proceed as described above to connect your smartphone to WhatsApp on the PC. If the setup was successful, you can start and use WhatsApp from the desktop shortcut.
