With three words to the goal: what3words relies on very special addresses.

Basically, you will find a map in the usual design on map.what3words.com. The actual innovation is found in the form of three words.

How what3words works

The principle of what3words is quickly explained:

• On the map of what3words, the world is divided into squares of 3 x 3 meters each.
• Each of these 9 square meter squares, of which there are a total of about 57 trillion pieces, is defined by a combination of three words.
• As a result, each square of the world can be identified by a corresponding word combination.
• Allocated words are purely random, but never change. Each three-word address thus remains valid forever. To the exact format: The three words are each separated by a dot (word1.word2.word3) - the application is thus very uncomplicated.

In practice, this system works very simple: You enter any address in the input field in the normal format. As a result, you get directly the three-word address. This you can then pass on, for example, for navigation purposes.The only important thing is that the three-word address is entered at what3words, because other services such as Google Maps do not support this format.
