WLAN is not found - how to fix the problem

By default, a computer or mobile device automatically connects to the WLAN if it was already paired to the network before. On the other hand, if the WLAN is not found by your device, this can have several causes.

WLAN is not found: How to enable the function

If your device does not find the WLAN network, this can have several reasons. In order for a connection to be established between your device and the WLAN router, it is imperative that the function is enabled on both devices. Therefore, if you have problems with the connection, first check whether this is the case.
  1. If the WLAN is activated, you can usually tell by a small light next to the "WiFi" or "WLAN" lettering on the router. If this lights up, the function is activated and can be used.
  2. How you make sure that the WLAN is also activated on the device to be connected depends on the type of device. If you have a Windows PC, click on the "WLAN icon" in the menu bar for this. On a mobile device, the WLAN activation is again possible via the Settings app.

More reasons why the WLAN is not found

To rule out a defect in the router itself, take another device as a test and try to connect it to the WLAN. Outdated drivers can also be the cause if the WLAN is not found. To update them, right-click on your computer's WLAN icon and go to "Open Network and Sharing Center" > "Change adapter settings". Then open the properties menu of your WLAN network and click on "Update driver" under "Configure" > "Drivers".
