Excel: Print background image - how to map everything

If you include background images in your Excel spreadsheet, you can give the file a personal touch or customize it thematically. To make sure you don't lose it when printing, here's how to set the background image you choose.

How to keep the background image

By default, Excel does not print a background image. So that you do not have to do without it, there are two possible solutions.
  1. Insert your background image by first clicking on the "Insert" tab.
  2. Now a drop-down menu appears, from which you select "Graphic". Now specify from which location Excel should obtain the image.
  3. When you now print your file, the background image will be printed with it. However, the affected area of the cells will be overlaid and may therefore be difficult to read.

Alternative way to print the background image in Excel

It is more complex, but easier to read, if you deposit the graphic via the "Format" command.
  1. Click on "Sheet" and then on "Background". This ensures that the cells of the Excel file move to the foreground.
  2. To print the file, you must click on "File" and then on "Web page preview".
  3. Excel now opens your browser and displays the table as an HTML document. Using the menu of your browser, you can now print the file.
So that you do not have to compromise between optics and readability of your Excel file, it is necessary that you have a stable Internet connection. Because you can print the second variant only through your browser, because the conversion within Excel to the required HTML format is not possible.
