Photoshop: Cutting out objects - how to do it

To cut out objects from your images, Photoshop provides you with several tools. In addition to tools for freely selecting objects, you can also have Photoshop automatically search for objects.

These tools for cutting out objects are available in Photoshop

Once you have opened a photo in Photoshop, you can edit it in different ways. To cut out an object from the open image, you can find the appropriate tool in the top left corner of the toolbar.
  1. To do this, first click on the icon of the dashed square while holding down the mouse button to open a submenu.
  2. In the menu that opens, you can now choose between the Polygon Lasso, the Magic Wand tool and the Quick Selection tool.
  3. While you can freely choose how you want to cut out the object when selecting the Lasso tool, this selection is made by Photoshop when using the other two tools.

If you want to cut out a square or ellipse-shaped object, simply click on the dashed square, select "Selection Rectangle Tool" or "Selection Ellipse Tool" respectively and drag it over the object in the image. If you want to use the lasso to cut, click a point on the edge of the object and drag the lasso around the subject while holding down the mouse button. If you decide to use the Magic Wand or Quick Selection, hover the mouse over the object once to let Photoshop mark the edges of the object on its own. Finally, you can copy the selected object with "Ctrl" + "C" or cut it with "Ctrl" + "X".
