WLAN via socket - how to forward the signal

If the WLAN reception is not equally good in all rooms, WLAN from the socket is an alternative to laying LAN cables throughout the apartment. Find out here how to convert your power outlet into a WLAN socket and what the prerequisites are for setting it up.

How WLAN reception via the power outlet works

If you have poor WLAN reception in parts of your apartment or house, this is usually because the distance to the WLAN router is too great. One way to improve the range of your router is to use a powerline adapter. These so-called powerline adapters forward the WLAN signal of your router or another end device via the power grid and thus ensure better Internet reception.

How to set up a WLAN network via the power outlet

To get WLAN via the power outlet, you will need at least two powerline adapters and, if necessary, a LAN cable in addition to a router. Also, you should connect the adapters directly to a single power outlet and not to a multiple plug to avoid interference.
  1. To get WLAN from the power outlet, please plug the first adapter first into a power outlet that is close to the router so that it can receive the digital signal from the router.
  2. Then plug the second powerline adapter also to a power outlet, which is located in the room where you have only poor WLAN reception.
  3. Once the first adapter has received the WLAN signal from the router, he converts it and passes it through the power network to the second adapter.
