Forward WLAN - with this procedure it works

If the WLAN signal on your computer is too weak or if the PC is not WLAN-capable, you can forward the WLAN of your smartphone to the computer. To connect the computer to the smartphone and transmit the signal, you have several methods to choose from.

Forward WLAN: How to turn your smartphone into a repeater

By forwarding your smartphone's WLAN, you can share it with other devices. Your smartphone acts as a WLAN repeater that picks up the WLAN signal and forwards it amplified to other devices. Using a smartphone as a repeater is possible either via a USB connection or via Bluetooth function. Some new smartphone models now also have an integrated repeater function for WLAN forwarding. If this is the case with your mobile device, you can use it under "Settings" > "Wifi sharing".

How to set up your smartphone for WLAN forwarding

To amplify the WLAN with the help of your smartphone and forward it to a PC or laptop, please first connect the device to the power supply and make sure that it is connected to the WLAN to be amplified.
  1. Now connect the smartphone to the powered-on computer via USB cable and navigate to "Settings" > "More" > "Tethering & mobile hotspot" on the mobile device to enable the USB tethering option.
  2. Then click on the network icon on the computer and select the WLAN of your smartphone as a LAN connection.
  3. If you want to forward the WLAN wirelessly, activate the Bluetooth on the smartphone and the computer and select the option "Tethering via Bluetooth" on the smartphone.
  4. Then you can connect the devices by clicking on the name of your smartphone under "Networks".
