Thanks to good old role-playing virtues, your character will become stronger and stronger in The Outer Worlds. A key element are the so-called Perks, which we explain in more detail below.

Perks give you better skills in all areas of The Outer Worlds.

Perks are additional traits or enhancements that you can use to steer character development in specific directions.

The Outer Worlds: How to invest in Perks

The Outer Worlds' Perk system is structured as follows:
  • You can set a Perk point at every even level you reach, starting at level 2.
  • Overall, Perks are divided into three tiers. To use level 2 perks, you must have set at least five points in the first level perks. After another five points in level 2, the perks of the third level are open to you.
  • Logical: The higher the level, the more effective the respective perks are.
  • The perks cover different areas, for example, the increase of damage, better healing abilities, lower detection by enemies or more effective dialogue skills.
Since the maximum level in The Outer Worlds is 30, you can activate a maximum of 15 perks (of 42 existing perks). So the decision wants to be well considered, however, you can perform a perk reset in case of need.
