Google Pay: How the checkout process works

Smartphone payments are on the rise. The Corona crisis has added to this trend. For new Google Pay users, we explain below how the checkout process works.

One touch: paying with Google Pay takes seconds.

Mobile payments should not only be secure, but also convenient. To make sure they are, Google Pay has implemented a fast payment process with little additional effort.

This is how the payment process works with Google Pay

Paying with Google Pay is quite simple:
  • To pay with Google Pay at the checkout, you first have to unlock your smartphone.
  • Then hold the phone up to the reader. The correct location for the NFC connection is displayed in the form of a blue dot.
  • More work is not necessary, however - so you do not even need to open the Google Pay app. This is convenient, as it allows quick payment without effort.
  • Important: If you use a cell phone case, it may happen that you have to remove it to pay. This depends on the material and nature of the case.
If you have multiple bank cards linked to Google Pay, the service will always use the one you have set as default. Eine Abfrage diesbezüglich kommt also ebenfalls nicht vor. Die Änderung der Standardverbindung ist jederzeit in der App möglich.
