Witcher series on Netflix: the start went well

Netflix has taken on the adaptation of the Witcher story by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. The character Geralt of Riva has millions of fans, and that's largely thanks to video games.

Monsters and magic: The Witcher universe counts many fans worldwide.

The Witcher: series launched just before Christmas 2019 on Netflix

The main role of the Witcher Geralt of Riva is played by Henry Cavill. Other important characters are the sorceress Yennefer of Vengeberg and Ciri, for whom Geralt takes a kind of father role. Due to the popularity of the book series and the computer games (by CD Projekt Red), the series already caused glowing internet lines on the release day.
  • The Netflix launch took place on December 20, 2019 worldwide for all viewers.
  • The first season consisted of eight episodes.
  • As is usually the case with Netflix productions, all episodes were released in one go.
  • The reviews were very mixed. Many people who do not know the books and games, find the series rather bad, because the introduction is much too fast.
  • Furthermore, there are very many plot jumps, which make it difficult to understand the story, if in advance the books were not read.
  • A second season is to come and is expected to be available in 2021 on Netflix. The second season is also expected to get at least 8 episodes. Der Dreh findet in Großbritannien statt und musste bis jetzt zweimal aufgrund von Corona unterbrochen werden.
