Update to Android 10 and EMUI 10 is coming for the Huawei Mate 20 and Huawei Mate 20 Pro: here's what changes
Last weekend, Huawei displaced everyone by releasing the update to the Android 10 operating system and EMUI 10 interface for the Huawei Mate 20 and Huawei Mate 20 Pro phones. These are the first phones to receive the update since the P30 range. An update that came ahead of initial expectations and that highlights the good work that Huawei is doing to bring Android 10 and EMUI 10 to its devices as soon as possible.
A little less than two weeks ago, on Huawei's Weibo profile had appeared the dates of the beta release for all smartphone models, including those of the Honor brand. The release of the update for the Huawei Mate 20 and Huawei Mate 20 Pro phones was initially scheduled in China for the end of October along with the one planned for the Huawei Mate RS Porsche Design. Being Chinese dates it was normal to wait a few more months before the arrival in Europe, but Huawei seems to have changed its mind by anticipating the timing of the release by a couple of weeks. For the moment the update has arrived only in some countries of Northern and Central Europe, but soon it will be available for download and installation in Italy. The new version of the software named 10.0.0.136 will radically change the entire system of the two smartphones for now affected by the update and has a weight of 4.42 GB.
The new EMUI 10 interface
The release of the new interface for Huawei devices marks an important moment of transition for the devices of the Chinese company. The problems with the United States have not prevented Huawei from continuing with the update of the operating system thanks to the adoption of Android 10 as well as the new EMUI 10 interface. The update confirms the company's willingness to continue for the foreseeable future the important partnership with Google, despite the fact that the Chinese giant is still busy testing the proprietary Harmony OS system, currently not usable on the smartphones of the Chinese company.
The novelties of the new interface
If the user interface of Huawei devices has always been considered the Achilles' heel of the Chinese giant by industry experts, with the EMUI 10, the Asian brand tries to change the cards on the table by making a huge leap forward. The system icons have been completely redesigned using softer colors, while new gestures simplify the use of the smartphone that can be easily controlled using one hand. But the big news introduced by EMUI 10 is the dark mode, now a must for all mobile device operating systems and that can be activated on almost all applications normally used on Huawei phones. With a difference, however: compared to the classic black used as a theme in dark mode, Huawei has preferred to tack on a different dark shade: the so-called EMUI Blue. Finally, news also for the cameras with the adoption of new filters that can be used to edit the images taken.
