Motorola Edge S Pro and Edge Lite Luxury Edition are official in China: here are the features of two relatively cheap and balanced smartphones
Motorola, after having made official the Edge 20, enriches the Edge line with two new products: they are Edge S Pro and Edge Lite Luxury Edition. Two products apparently at the antipodes, a "Pro" and a "Lite", but in terms of performance, in the end, differ less than the commercial suffixes suggest.
Motorola Edge Lite Luxury Edition is also the lightest and thinnest 5G Android smartphone that Motorola has designed so far: the thickness is just 6.99 millimeters and the weight is just over 160 grams (163). Motorola Edge S Pro, on the other hand, boasts another record: it is in fact the first smartphone of the winged house to have a periscope lens, able to enlarge up to 50 times what is framed by the 108-megapixel main camera combining optical and digital zoom. And if the over 100 megapixels of the "Pro" are surprising, it's even more surprising the same resolution for the main camera of the "Lite", one of the elements that reduces the effective distance between the two, despite the name. Here's what they look like.
Motorola Edge S Pro, the features
Motorola Edge S Pro has a Snapdragon 870 chip, up to 12 GB of RAM memory of LPDDR4 type, UFS 3.1 storage space up to 256 GB and a display that promises very well indeed. It's a 6.7-inch OLED panel - in which a hole for the 32 MP front camera is cut - with true super-sensing technology at 1 billion colors, 144 Hz refresh rate and 576 Hz touch sampling and SGS Eye protection certification.
The rear camera group consists of a 108-megapixel main sensor, an 8-megapixel telephoto periscope lens and a 16 MP ultra-wide-angle sensor. All of this is backed by a 4,520 mAh battery with support for 30-watt fast charging. Like its younger brother "Lite", Edge S Pro is distinguished by its small size: the thickness is just 7.99 millimeters, and the weight is limited to 189 grams.
It is not yet clear whether Motorola Edge S Pro will arrive in Italy (at prices higher than the Chinese ones). The availability in China is scheduled for August 10, when the "basic" configuration of 6+128 GB will cost the equivalent of 330 euros while for the most equipped 12+256 GB will serve the equivalent of 430 euros.
Motorola Edge Lite Luxury Edition, the features
Motorola Edge Lite Luxury Edition is just less valuable than its big brother certainly does not lack in balance, thanks to the 2.4 GHz Snapdragon 778G, chip that offers a good compromise between performance and power consumption and that, in combination with the 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of storage space, is able to offer more than satisfactory performance.
The Edge Lite Luxury Edition's display is a 6.7-inch OLED, supports HDR10+ and covers the DCI-P3 color space, has a refresh rate of an impressive 144 Hz and can reproduce more than 1 billion colors. Surprising, as mentioned above, the camera group: 100 MP main sensor, 8 MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and 16 MP ultra wide angle, while the sensor for selfies is 32 MP.
The battery of 4,020 mAh with fast charging at 33 watts completes the picture of a product certainly valid of which, however, we do not know the possible availability in Europe. In China the list starts from the equivalent of 340 euros for the variant 8+128 GB.
