Official announcement for Downton Abbey fans: sequel to the first film is coming with the original cast and new leads
Downton Abbey 2 will happen. The announcement intended for fans of the film born from the television series came on the official Instagram account of Downton Abbey on April 19. In addition to the original cast, there will also be new characters, including actors Hugh Dancy, Laura Haddock, Nathalie Baye and Dominic West.
After the success of the television series of the same name, which tells the story of the aristocratic Crawley family and their servants in the country estate located in Yorkshire, and that of the first film now expects a big comeback. The production has announced the arrival of the sequel Downton Abbey 2, which will be in theaters next December 22. Fans will thus be able to enjoy the company of the Earl and Countess of Grantham again and follow the intricate events set in the 1930s.

The official announcement of the sequel Downton Abbey 2, born from the imagination of creator Julian Fellowes, came as a surprise from producer Gareth Neame, who said, "After a really difficult year with so many of us separated from family and friends, it's a great comfort to think that better times are ahead and next Christmas will have us back together with the beloved characters of Downton Abbey."
Then confirmation on the official Instagram account, "We are thrilled to announce that Julian Fellowes and the entire Downton cast are back for #DowntonAbbey2, with Hugh Dancy, Laura Haddock, Nathalie Baye and Dominic West joining us! Check out the movie in theaters this Christmas." The appointment is therefore set in theaters next December 22 for a Christmas dedicated to the fans of the series.
Downton Abbey 2: cast confirmed and new arrivals
The TV series Downton Abbey was launched in 2010 and ended in 2015, after 52 episodes. An award-winning television series that tells the story of the Crawley family, headed by the Earl and Countess of Grantham, and their servants. The setting is in the Yorkshire countryside in 1912, after the sinking of the Titanic.
The success of the series was such that it prompted the next step: the release of the first film at the cinema, chronicling the visit of the King and Queen of England in 1927. Now the next chapter of the film, loved for the accuracy in the historical reproduction of facts and settings, will see the return on the scene of the original cast.
The already known and loved protagonists born from the pen of Fellowes will be joined by new characters and some of the actors have already been announced. They are Hugh Dancy, Laura Haddock, Nathalie Baye and Dominic West. At the direction of the new film is the director Simon Curtis, who has the arduous task of replicating the success that preceded it. All that's left to do is wait to discover the new story.
