To preview the new Windows 10 Start menu you need to follow a rather complicated procedure: here are all the steps to follow
The most important feature Microsoft is working on right now is definitely the new Start menu. It has been talked about for quite some time now and now it seems to be almost ready to make its debut. As we have already told you, the new design has already been released in the beta version to let a group of users test it in preview. Microsoft's goal is to get feedback on any bugs as soon as possible in order to fix them and release the new Windows 10 Start menu with the core update expected in November.
There is a way, however, to preview test the new Start menu design even if you're not a beta tester. In fact, a trick to activate it in preview comes from a German website. Before explaining the procedure, however, we want to warn you: it is necessary to edit some documents in the registry and if you are not familiar with the world of computers you might have some difficulties. So, before proceeding, you should make sure that you have a backup of all the documents on your PC and that you are really able to carry out the operation.
What changes with the new Windows 10 Start menu
Before explaining step-by-step how to preview the new Windows 10 Start menu, let's see what the main changes are. Microsoft wanted to lighten the style, following the rules of Fluent Design. Il colore delle Live Tiles è stato reso più tenue e sono state modificate anche alcune icone delle app Microsoft: Calcolatrice, Posta e Calendario.
Windows 10, come attivare il nuovo menu Start segreto
Per poter attivare il menu segreto di Windows 10 è necessario installare l’aggiornamento KB4568831 del sistema operativo. Per controllare se è già presente sul proprio computer è necessario entrare all’interno di Windows Update e verificare nella sezione “Visualizza cronologia degli aggiornamenti" se è stato già installato. Fatto questo controllo e verificata la presenza dell’update, si può passare all’azione.
Come abbiamo già detto è necessario modificare alcune parti del registro di sistema e quindi suggeriamo di farlo solamente a chi è veramente in grado. La prima cosa da fare è creare un file txt rinominandolo “Start menu". A questo punto dovete incollare nel documento questo testo:
“Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlFeatureManagementOverrides2093230218]
“EnabledState"=dword:00000002
“EnabledStateOptions"=dword:00000000“.
Una volta fatto salvate il documento e cambiate l’estensione in modo da poterlo inserire nel registro di sistema. Il PC vi chiederà se siete sicuri di fare questi cambiamenti e dovrete dire di sì. A questo punto riavviate il computer e una volta acceso troverete il nuovo menu Start ad aspettarvi.
Come abbiamo già ripetuto, portate a termine questa operazione solamente se siete degli esperti di informatica e se avete un backup di tutti i dati del PC nel caso in cui qualcosa vada storto.
