HTC, online photos of the new top of the range. Here’s what it will look like

HTC is ready to launch a phablet that will mount the new Snapdragon 835 chipset. The Taiwanese company tries the relaunch after a difficult period

One day after the official presentation, the first official photos of the new HTC U Ultra are leaked, a six-inch phablet that in the company's plans should relaunch the brand in the smartphone sector. After a difficult period, with rumors of a possible sale, HTC is ready to relaunch itself.

The event of January 12 marks a turning point for the Taiwanese company. There will be three new smartphones presented: in addition to the HTC U Ultra, there will also be the HTC ONE X10 (a mid-range model) and the HTC U Play. But the focus is all on the HTC U Ultra, which will be the first device of 2017 to mount the Snapdragon 835, the latest chipset from the San Diego-based company that promises to increase performance and decrease battery consumption compared to the Snapdragon 821. In addition to the technical characteristics, the first photos of the device have also appeared on the Net: there is no audio jack and not even the dual lens camera.

The technical characteristics of the HTC U Ultra

(Taken from Twitter)

If during the event on January 12 will be confirmed the technical characteristics, the HTC U Ultra (which will probably be presented under the name Ocean Note) will be the most powerful Android smartphone on the market. And the credit goes mainly to the new SoC Snapdragon 835, supported by the new Adreno 540 GPU, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. But the news should be taken with a grain of salt: some indiscretions from some internet sites speak claim that HTC eventually opted for the Snapdragon. A choice, which if confirmed, would make the device very similar to the Google Pixel XL. The screen will be a 6-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1440), screen from the excellent resolution and very wide that allows you to watch TV series and movies in peace. The battery will be 4000 mAh.

Photographic compartment

But the real highlight is the photo section. Although HTC has decided not to adopt a dual lens solution, the device, according to the latest rumors, would have achieved a score of 89 in the DxOMark ranking, the most widely used to understand the potential of the photo compartment of a smartphone, beating even the Google Pixel. The rear camera is 23 megapixels, while the front one is 16 megapixels (some rumors speak of a dual lens rear camera, but in the photos there is no trace of the dual sensor).

Release date and price

To know the release date and price will have to wait until tomorrow after the conclusion of the official event. But it is very likely that it will not go below 600 euros.
