PUK forgotten - how to find it out

The PUK is the last number you can use to unlock your sim card. It is requested after you have entered your PIN incorrectly at least three times. Usually you can find the PUK on the card that the SIM came with. But that's not the only place.

Where do you get the PUK back?

Under no circumstances should you try to guess the PUK. The sequence of digits is very long and can also be entered only ten times. If you enter the PUK incorrectly ten times, your SIM card will be blocked forever.

1. Contact your provider. This can send you the PUK again. However, this usually does not happen free of charge.
2. Many providers offer that you can view the PUK in respective online portal. Do you still know your login details, so you can find out the PUK again.
3. Furthermore, you have the option to contact the support of your mobile operator. Have all the information ready that the support staff needs. This includes your cell phone number, your date of birth and your contract number.

The easiest way is to always keep your PIN and PUK safe. Write the codes best on two different pieces of paper and staple them in a folder where you also keep other important documents.
