What is the range of Bluetooth?
Nowadays, you can pair many devices with your smartphone via a Bluetooth connection. This makes it possible, for example, to play your music through your speakers at any time. Even though Bluetooth works completely wirelessly, there is a certain range that you have to adhere to. Otherwise, the reception breaks.
This is the maximum range you have with a Bluetooth connection
Bluetooth is an industry standard for transferring files between two devices. For this, both devices must be equipped with a corresponding chip and support the function. Even though the connection via Bluetooth usually works quickly and easily, you only have a short range available. This depends on the supported Bluetooth class.- Bluetooth can be divided into a total of three classes, which offer a different range.
- If your devices support class 1, then you recognize your devices at a distance of up to 100 meters. With class 2, it is still up to 50 m and class 3 still 10 m.
- Note that the range may vary depending on where you are. Inside your home, walls and other obstacles can reduce the range.
- Most smartphones have Bluetooth class 3, otherwise the connection would be too susceptible to interference - especially if many smartphones are within the radius and also have Bluetooth enabled. In addition, you will find too many devices at a very high range, which further reduces the security of the connection.
