What is the range of Bluetooth speakers?

Bluetooth is one of the many wireless connection options that allow you to conveniently stream music to corresponding speakers or exchange data between devices. What kind of range the wireless connection has depends on various factors and can vary depending on the device.

How to find out the range of your Bluetooth speakers

How far the Bluetooth connection from your speakers will reach is measured by what is called Bluetooth class. In total, there are three different classes, which allow different radio range depending on the power requirements.
  • Class 1: 100 mW and a range of up to 100 meters, if no obstacles affect the connection.
  • Class 2: 10 mW and a range of up to 50 meters, provided that the connection is not disturbed by obstacles.
  • Class 3: 1 mW and with 1 meter the shortest range of the three classes, but also the most power-saving option.
What exactly for a range or with what Bluetooth class your Bluetooth speakers are equipped, you can usually find in the enclosed manual. Many of the current speakers are equipped with Bluetooth class 2 and often have a range of up to 50 meters.

Interference factors for the Bluetooth connection

Like other wireless connections, Bluetooth can also be interfered with by obstacles such as concrete walls, walls or metal objects. To obtain a stable and interference-free connection, it is advisable to position the speakers or boxes so that they are as free as possible and are not blocked by anything.
