Connecting Android to Mac - how to do it

If you want to share music, pictures or other private documents between your Android smartphone and your MacBook or iMac, you need to connect both devices. For this, there is a USB connection as well as wireless pairing.

USB connection

You can exchange your data using a USB connection:
  1. To do this, first plug the USB cable connectors into both your smartphone and your Apple device.
  2. A small icon will now appear on your mobile device indicating the connection.
  3. Now download the free Android File Transfer program on your PC. This you need for communication between Android and Mac.
  4. Finally open the program.
  5. You can now exchange your data between both devices.

Wireless connection

If no USB connection is possible, you can also exchange your data wirelessly with each other. This works via Bluetooth or via a cloud.
  1. Turn on the Bluetooth connection on both devices.
  2. Now select the document to be transferred and choose "Send via Bluetooth".
  3. Click your Mac as the receiving device.
  4. The documents are now transmitted via Bluetooth.
  5. Should you be just not in the vicinity, so a transfer via a cloud makes the most sense.
  6. For this, load all the data to be transferred into a Dropbox and then open it on the PC. You can now view all the data previously transferred to the cloud and download it to the PC.
