You can find out which software version your device is using in the Alexa app before performing the update. To do this, first open it and tap the "Info" option under "Devices" > "Echo and Alexa". To determine whether an update is necessary, then compare the software version displayed there with the data on the Amazon support page.

If you have determined that you are using an outdated version when checking the software version, you have various options for updating Alexa. The quickest way to do this is by voice command, asking Alexa to check for available software updates.

1. Alternatively, you can also disconnect your Alexa device from the power supply for a short time to perform a reboot. Once you reconnect the device to power, Alexa will automatically check for updates and install them if necessary.
2. If the update does not work this way, navigate to "Settings" > "Your Amazon Echo" in the Alexa app and perform the update under "Device software version."
