How to move iTunes library to a new computer?
Before you start, you should make sure that all the media you have stored in iTunes has also been deposited in the Media folder. To do this, go to the settings and then to "Advanced". Here you will find the option "Copy library files to iTunes media folder".- The first thing you need to do is navigate to your iTunes folder. To do this, simply go to "/Users/username/music" on Mac and "C:\Users/username/own music\iTunes\" on Windows.
- Now copy the entire iTunes folder to a USB stick or external hard drive. To do this, right-click the stick and select "Copy". Then navigate to your disk and select "Paste".
- When all the data is stored on the disk, connect it to the new PC or Mac and copy the folder again. In doing so, paste it into the same directory from which you copied the folder out earlier.
- Now you need to launch iTunes with the library selection. To do this, simply hold down Shift on Windows and Alt or Option on OS X and launch iTunes. Wählen Sie den kopierten Ordner als Mediathek aus.
