Upload faster than download: How to fix the problem

Normally, download is faster than upload because most of the bandwidth is reserved for download. However, for some connections, download and upload are equally fast. If the download is faster than the upload, there is usually a problem with the connection.

Why is the download faster than the upload?

If the download is faster than the upload, it is usually due to your connection. If the connection is bad or disturbed, it may be that the upload data can be transferred for the most part, while the download data cannot. The connection to the Internet can be disturbed in various places.

These possible disturbances you should check

  1. Check your LAN or WLAN connection on your device by connecting to another Internet connection.
  2. If you connect to your Internet connection via WLAN, you should check the WLAN connection and make sure that your device is close enough to your router.
  3. If you connect to your Internet connection via LAN, check the contact and functionality of your LAN cable and try another cable to connect to the Internet.
  4. Check the functionality of your router and try to pair to the Internet with another router.
  5. Check the cables of your router to the Internet connection and replace them if necessary.
  6. Check how much bandwidth the programs on your devices use. Under certain circumstances, a program on one of your devices is taking up too much of your download bandwidth.
  7. Contact your Internet provider and have them check your connection for interference.
