Viber is no longer completely unknown in Germany, but does not enjoy nearly the same distribution as WhatsApp, Skype or even Telegam. We therefore present the chat app in a little more detail.

What is Viber and how does it work?

Viber's range of functions includes the features of services such as WhatsApp and Skype:

• An Internet-based messenger chat takes center stage. Included there are the usual features such as emojis.
• In addition, VoIP phone calls as well as video chats are possible.
• Also Viber is basically free. To register, you only need to enter your phone number.
• With the Viber Out function, you can even call people who do not have Viber installed. Since this is not possible for free, you must first pay credit to your account.
• Another special feature is the ability to switch calls from the Viber app to the desktop application. This is done via "Transfer call".

Except for Viber Out, Viber is absolutely comparable to WhatsApp, Telegram and Co. both in terms of functions and handling. Therefore, the network effect is important - for the individual user, the app makes sense especially when as many acquaintances as possible also use it.
