How to connect your multifunction printer to the FritzBox 7490 before setting it up

If you have a multifunction printer at home that can also be used as a fax, you can connect it to your FritzBox 7490. In order for you to be able to print and scan as well as fax with the device, it is necessary that you connect the device to the FritzBox accordingly beforehand. While you can pair the multifunction device as a printer and scanner with the FritzBox 7490 via WLAN as well as via USB connection, you need to connect the multifunction device to an analog extension of the Fritzbox or an ISDN connection for the connection as a fax.

Once you have connected the fax of the multifunction device to the FritzBox 7490 as described above, the next step is to set up the fax function in the FritzBox user interface.
  1. To start with the setup, please call up the FritzBox user interface in your browser under "fritz.box/".
  2. Then navigate there to "Telephony" > "Own phone numbers" > "Connection settings" and activate the passive fax switch to send and receive faxes via your landline number.
  3. If the device is connected to the FritzBox via ISDN, please go instead to "Telephony" > "Telephony Devices", click "Set up new device" and follow the further instructions.
