How to transfer your WhatsApp chats from Android to Android

Have you bought a new cell phone, you can transfer your WhatsApp chats to the new device. If your old and new phone is an Android device, this is possible either via cloud backup or manually.

1. To transfer your chat history from cloud backup, on the old device in WhatsApp, please first navigate to "Settings" > "Chats" > "Chat Backup" and tap "Backup".
2. After that, install WhatsApp on the new phone, verify your phone number and restore the chats from the backup during setup.
3. If you want to do the transfer manually, please connect both phones to a computer and activate the data transfer (MTP).
4. Then copy the WhatsApp folder of the old phone to the phone memory of the new phone to transfer the chats.

WhatsApp: Transfer chats to a new iPhone

To take your chats to a new iPhone, there is only the way via the iCloud. This is where all WhatsApp backups are stored and can be used to restore them to a new device. To create a backup, please go to "Settings" > "Chat" > "Chat backup" in WhatsApp and tap "Create backup now". Once you have installed WhatsApp on the new iPhone, you can use the iCloud backup to restore chats during setup.
