Setting up Sonos One - how to use the speaker

The One model from Sonos is a smart speaker that also lets you control the Alexa voice assistant. Because the speaker provides many features, setting up the device can take longer than it did with its predecessor.

How to set up the Sonos One speaker

If you want to use the Sonos One speaker with all its features, then setting up the device may take a few minutes. Using the voice assistant also requires a separate login.

1. First, download the Sonos app to a mobile device of your choice. For older devices, you need the "Sonos S1 Controller App".
2. Start the application and click on "Set up new system".
3. The app now asks for access to your location and then asks if you want to establish a Bluetooth connection. However, if you prefer to connect via WLAN, then answer "No".
4. Now you have the option to set up a new Sonos account or log in with an existing one.
5. The next step is to set up via WLAN. Keep the default settings and wait until the app has found the speaker.
6. Enter the password of your network. Optionally, a connection via a LAN cable is also possible. In this case, you must then press and hold the button on the back until you hear a beep and confirm the connection in the app.
7. After that, you can make all the settings in the app.
