Using Sonos without WLAN - you have this option

The WLAN-based speaker system Sonos can be controlled via the Internet with a smartphone, tablet or smartwatch. You can connect the speakers to your home network via a bridge or app. However, if you do not want to use WLAN, then you need a LAN connection.

This is how you can use the Sonos speaker system without WLAN

The Sonos speaker system actually only works with WLAN, as this allows you to connect and control the speakers with a device. However, if you do not want to use WLAN for the connection, you need a LAN connection instead.
  1. A connection to your home network is important so that you can put the speakers into operation.
  2. If you do not want to use a WLAN connection, there is a suitable network port on the back of the speakers to connect the devices to your network via LAN.
  3. Check before you buy the speakers whether they have a port, because some versions do not.
  4. If there is no port, you must connect the speakers via WLAN to the network, otherwise you can not use them.
If you connect the speakers via LAN, each speaker gets its own IP address from the DHCP server. Then you can get to the configuration page with the respective IP via your browser. There, switch Persist to OFF and repeat this for each speaker.
