Adjusting Windows 10 Screen Brightness: All options explained

In Windows 10, you have several settings for how the screen is displayed. One of them is that you can adjust the screen brightness. How you make the image brighter also depends on whether you are using a laptop or a computer.

Adjust screen brightness in Windows 10 options

If you want to adjust the screen brightness in Windows 10, you can find the option in the settings. Click the Info Center at the bottom right of the taskbar, you will also find the option to switch to night mode.
  1. Click the Windows icon at the bottom left.
  2. Then click the gear icon to open the settings.
  3. Switch to the "System" menu and then to the "Display" or "Screen" submenu.
  4. At the very top of the "Brightness and Color" section, you can use a slider to make the screen brighter or darker.
  5. If you wish, you can also check "Automatically adjust brightness to changing light conditions."
You don't see the brightness slider? In this case, you need to adjust the settings on your monitor. Windows 10 automatically hides the slider if your monitor has buttons that allow you to adjust the screen brightness. Look at the bottom, side, or back for the buttons. They are usually marked by a sun. Alternatively, you can find a button to call up the monitor's menu and can make the screen brighter or darker in it.

Adjust brightness on laptop

If you use a laptop, the screen brightness can often be adjusted using a key combination. Usually it is the Fn key and one of the F keys. On laptops you will also sometimes find an external wheel for the brightness.
