Adjusting Windows 10 for users with impaired vision - here's how

Accessibility has long been an important topic for operating systems as well. Windows 10 gives users with limited color perception the option to customize the system. We show the options.

All colors: limited color perception is not an obstacle in Windows 10.

There are different types and degrees of color blindness. Windows 10 tries to accommodate the most common limitations.

Windows 10: How to specifically change the color display

You can find the options the following way:
  1. Press "Win" + "I".
  2. Open "Ease of use".
  3. Select "Color filters" on the left.
There you can choose between special modes regarding the color display. For users with color vision problems, there are three options:
  • Red-Green for green vision problems (deuteranopia)
  • Red-Green for red vision problems (protanopia)
  • Blue-Yellow for blue vision problems (tritanopia)
Note that you can only select the options after you have set the switch at the top of "Turn on color filters" to "On". Also handy is the ability to turn the filter on or off using a keyboard shortcut, such as when multiple people are using the same PC.
