Adjusting your microphone: This is how easy it is

You want to adjust your microphone but don't really know how? So that you can communicate without problems via Skype, Discord, TS and Co. or maybe record something yourself, you need to set up your microphone.

Plug the microphone into the appropriate port on your PC and you're done setting up the microphone automatically. If this does not work optimally or no sound is heard at all, you can set your microphone via Windows.

Tips & Tricks when setting the microphone

First check whether the correct microphone is selected.

1. To do this, right-click on the speaker icon at the bottom right of the taskbar.
2. Select "Open sound settings" and go to "Select input device".
3. Click on the microphone you want to use.

If you are using a program such as Discord, Zoom, Skype and other communication software, you may need to select the correct microphone there in the settings.

This is how you can set up the microphone via Windows

If this is still not enough or if the recording device is set incorrectly, perform a setup of the microphone as follows:

1. Open the "Control Panel. To do this, simply type the word in the Windows search. Klicken Sie oben rechts auf „Anzeige: Kleine Symbole“.
2. Öffnen Sie nun das Menü „Spracherkennung“.
3. Klicken Sie auf „Mikrofon einrichten“ und folgen Sie den Schritten, um Ihr Mikrofon einzustellen.
4. Führt dies nicht zu den gewünschten Ergebnissen, klicken Sie im Menü Spracherkennung unten links auf „Audiogeräte“.
5. Suchen Sie unter „Aufnahme“ nach Ihrem Mikro und wählen Sie über Rechtsklick „Eigenschaften“.
6. Hier können Sie beispielsweise den Pegel höherstellen, damit das Mikrofon lauter wird.
