Windows became world-famous along with the PC, but now the system is widely used on other platforms as well. Windows Hello is a clear sign in this direction.

What is Windows Hello - and what can it do?

With Windows Hello, your login to the device is the focus. This is to be more individual and at the same time more secure than before. In addition, the login is also more convenient, because it works by fingerprint or facial recognition.

• Windows Hello allows you to log in by fingerprint, if the device supports the function. Premium models like those of the Surface Pro series are equipped accordingly.
• The same applies to iris recognition, as it has also arrived on modern smartphones. Alternatively, there is facial recognition.
• Even you can log in with your voice.
• Windows Hello can also be set up on PCs that have a fingerprint sensor in other ways.

The classic login with password or PIN entry is of course still possible. With Windows Hello, you can decide which method seems most convenient or secure based on the situation.

Enable Windows Hello

To set up Windows Hello on your device, follow these steps:

1. Click the Windows icon at the bottom left, then click the gear.
2. Navigate to "Accounts > Sign-in options".
3. Here you can set up sign-in using additional Windows Hello methods under "Manage how to sign in to your device".
