WhatsApp: How to block other users

To send a message on WhatsApp, all you need is the mobile number of the person you want to contact. It is not uncommon that the contact is based only on one-sided interest and many users feel harassed or disturbed. That's what the block function is good for.

How to block contacts in WhatsApp

If you receive unwanted messages and simply can't just ignore the sender, simply block them.
  1. Start WhatsApp on your Android device and switch to the chat of the person you want to block.
  2. Now tap the icon with the three dots in the top right corner and navigate to "More" > "Block".
  3. Finally, select whether you want to block the contact only or also report it to WhatsApp.
  4. Have you an iOS device, the blocking of contacts in the app under "Settings" > "Account" > "Privacy"> "Blocked" is possible.
  5. Tap there on "Add contact" and select the appropriate person from the contact list.
  6. You will now no longer receive messages, the user sees you permanently as offline and can also no longer view your profile.

Unblock blocked contact again

  1. In case of an error or a change of mind, the block can also be returned.
