Generally, F1 2019 allows various input devices, and for PC players, among them is the keyboard. This is by far the worst suited, as no metered inputs are possible. However, the fine adjustment is of central importance for braking as well as accelerating and steering.- Controllers therefore have a clear advantage. With the analog shoulder buttons, partial pressure is possible across the entire spectrum; the same applies to steering via analog stick.
- The best method is a set with steering wheel and pedals. However, this is opposed by the investment, which is usually a hurdle for non-enthusiasts. A controller, on the other hand, console gamers already have anyway. Many PC gamers also have a controller.
- When controlling with a controller, fingertip feeling is even more important, since the range or the stroke of the shoulder buttons is not large. Metered inputs are possible, but require extremely fine movements. This requires practice - and the right settings.
- Because you can change the linearity under "Calibration" in the control options. A higher value means that the input is not implemented quite as strictly. In this way, you can also accelerate and brake with the controller not too jerky.
- Pro tip for steering: By pressing the analog stick forward, you can perform finer steering movements from there to the sides, in the sense of a 180-degree semicircle. From the starting position in the middle, this is namely hardly possible - here there is only strictly left or right.
