Delete WhatsApp status - how to do it

The status function of WhatsApp offers you the possibility to share short texts or pictures with your contacts. If you have shared an incorrect status, you do not have to wait for it to be deleted after 24 hours, but can remove it manually.

WhatsApp status: how to delete it on an Android device

For some time now, WhatsApp has offered a status function that allows you to share short messages, pictures or videos with your contacts. In this case, your posted status messages are only visible temporarily and are deleted after 24 hours. However, if you have accidentally posted a status or shared an incorrect status, you can also delete it manually.

1. To delete a WhatsApp status on an Android smartphone, first open the app and switch to "Status".
2. Tap the icon with the three dots there to get to the status view.
3. Then select the status you want to delete by tapping and holding it until it is highlighted.
4. Now tap on the top of the displayed "trash icon" and confirm by selecting "Delete" that you really want to remove your status.

iPhone: How to delete a status from WhatsApp

If you have an iPhone, the deletion of a posted status is also easily possible. To do this, tap "Status" in the bottom left of the open app and select a status to go to the status view. Then tap "Edit" at the top right, select the status you want to delete and choose "Delete". Once you confirm the displayed message "Delete 1 status message", it will be deleted from the app and will no longer be visible to your contacts.
