Valheim: Is there PVP? We explain the possibilities

With up to ten players on a map, Valheim is a perfect multiplayer adventure. There, the focus is clearly on co-op play. Our guide explains whether there is PVP at all.

Technically speaking, there is: PVP is possible in Valheim, but it doesn't play a major role.

The basic principle of Valheim is designed for togetherness instead of against each other.

Valheim: These PVP options you have

At the start of the game, PVP is always disabled. This means that even if you attack a player, he will not suffer any damage - and vice versa.

• PVP works in Valheim according to the "opt-in" method: players must consciously activate the setting to use it.
• This is possible by opening your inventory and then clicking on the icon with the two swords on the right. These change thereby and are in crossed position.
• To do this, the message appears that PVP damage is now enabled.
• For duels or larger fights, however, all participating players must make the setting. Who PVP is not activated, which can not suffer damage from other players.
• An exception are privately created PVP servers with appropriate settings. On these, however, only players who have exactly that in mind.

PVP is thus purely consensual in Valheim and this prevents many problematic situations, such as by Griefer. Since the game content is anyway focused on PVE and has its strengths there, the PVP possibilities are not very comprehensive, so few players focus on it.
