Create a WordPress article: How to do it
It's not a long way to your own WordPress site. And it's just as easy to create a new WordPress post. We'll show you how to use WordPress' most important feature and what options you have there.
These are the options WordPress offers you when creating posts
To create a new post in WordPress, you have two options. Either click on "Posts" in the menu and then on "Create" or use the toolbar and navigate in it to "New" > "Post".- You are now on the blank page of a new post. First, enter a title in the space provided. This is your H1 heading, i.e. the strongest heading of the post, which will also be displayed in all preview modules (such as on the home page).
- Below this, create your content in the editor. To structure it with subheadings, open the expandable "Paragraph" menu in the toolbar and select formats such as "Heading 2" (equivalent to H2) or "Heading 3" (H3). Important: Headings in WordPress must follow a logical structure. So an H3 heading can only follow an H2 heading.
- Most of the other options in the toolbar are self-explanatory: you can mark text passages bold or italic, include links, change the text color or rearrange the indentation.
- In the bar to the right of the post you will find more options. For example, you can set the post format there or assign the post to an existing category. You can also enter keywords, also known as "tags", there. This way you assign your post to certain topics - this helps both the reader and the search engines.
- Once you have created the content and assigned it to a category, click the "Publish" button in the top right corner. Your WordPress post now goes live on the Internet and can be read on your site.
