How to create and embed a WordPress favicon

To create a favicon, you need any graphics program such as Photoshop or GIMP. When creating the graphic, pay attention to the following criteria:

How to embed the favicon in WordPress

Save or export the finished favicon in JPG or PNG format.
  1. After that, log in to your WordPress site and go to "Customizer" under "Design".
  2. Click on "Website Information" in the left bar.
  3. There you will find the section "Website Icon" at the very bottom. This refers to the favicon. Click on "Select Website Icon" to upload your favicon or exchange your current favicon for a new one. WordPress will show you via live preview how the favicon will look in the browser tab.
  4. Additionally, set titles and subtitles for your website in the available fields. These will be displayed next to the favicon in the browser tab.
  5. After integrating your favicon, click "Publish" at the top so that the website is updated and your favicon is visible to everyone.
