Windows 7: WLAN is not displayed

If you have problems connecting to the WLAN under Windows 7 or if you are even not shown any networks at all, this can have various causes. However, there are some tips and tricks you can use to get your WLAN connection working again as usual.

WLAN networks are not displayed in Windows 7

If you don't see wireless networks in Windows 7, the first thing to do is make sure your WLAN is turned on. Especially with laptops, it can easily happen that the connection is inadvertently disabled, since turning the WLAN module on and off works via a key combination.
  • Also make sure that you do not have flight mode turned on. This deactivates namely also the radio connections.
  • If the signal of the network is too weak, it can likewise happen that it is not displayed. Therefore, make sure that you are close enough to the router or access point.
  • The problem does not necessarily lie with your computer, the router can also be responsible. Check via the web interface of the device, whether all functions work without error.
  • Check whether you generally have no Internet. There may also be a fault with your Internet provider.

Old drivers slow down the network

Also outdated drivers can cause you to find no WLAN networks. Therefore, keep the drivers for your WLAN card up to date. To do this, connect your computer to the router via LAN cable to access the Internet.
