Invert Windows scroll direction: How to do it

In Windows there is no way to change the scroll direction via the system or device settings. Nevertheless, to find a solution, you need to use the registry editor. This does not require any knowledge of programming, you just need to change an entry in a dialog box.

Change scroll direction on Windows

Many Windows users would like to have the ability to reverse the scroll direction when scrolling with the touchpad. This is similar to what Mac devices do and is more convenient for many users. Unfortunately, you won't find a way to change the scrolling direction in the settings. Therefore, you will have to use the registry editor to adjust the scroll direction. Conscientiously look for the right dialog box here and do not make any other changes. The task is done in a few minutes.

How to use the registry editor

  1. In the search box, type the prompt "Run" and confirmed with Enter.
  2. A dialog box opens. Type "Regedit" in the field and confirm again with Enter.
  3. Allow changes to be made to the computer through the registry editor.
  4. The editor opens.
  5. Select the following folders in turn: HKEYLOCALMACHINE - SYSTEM - CurrentControlSet - Enum/HID.
  6. Suchen Sie in den Unterordnern nach dem Eintrag „FliFlopWheel“.
