Remove ByteFence - how to uninstall

The software ByteFence is marketed as anti-malware by its developer. However, ByteFence is often marked as such by other security software itself. The reason for this is some of the software's features, such as a browser plugin that changes search engine settings, among other things.

How to completely remove ByteFence from your computer

You can uninstall ByteFence desktop application via Windows Control Panel:

1. Open Windows Start menu and click Gear icon on the bottom left corner to open Windows Preferences.
2. Click on "Apps" in the overview.
3. Under the item "Apps & Features" you will find a complete list of all programs installed on the system. Either search for ByteFence manually or use the search function.
4. Once you have found ByteFence, click on the entry and then click on the "Uninstall" option on the right.
5. Follow the instructions of the wizard and wait until the uninstallation is complete.

Remove ByteFence browser plugin

You will need to remove the browser extension that is installed with ByteFence separately. How you proceed to delete the plugin from your browser depends on the browser. In Google Chrome, for example, you can view all installed extensions via the settings and have the option to remove them.ByteFence also changes the default search engine used by your browser. Via the browser settings you can change this back to your preferred search engine after removing the extension.
