The Elder Scrolls Online: Classes at a Glance

The Elder Scrolls Online has successfully held its own in the MMORPG market for years. The online offshoot offers the freedoms you already know from Skyrim, but puts the focus on multiplayer adventures. We show you what classes are available.

The class selection in The Elder Scrolls Online is well laid out, but with great content.

The success of The Elder Scrolls Online did not come as a complete surprise, as Skyrim is considered one of the best and most popular role-playing games of all time.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Classes at a quick glance

There are the following playable classes in The Elder Scrolls Online. One of them is only playable with an addon.
  • Dragon Knight (strong melee fighter)
  • Nightblade (ambush melee fighter)
  • Templar (knight with healing skills)
  • Sorcerer (ranged fighter with magic skills)
  • Guardian (highly customizable class with magic)
  • Necromancer (summoner and healer)
The Guardian, however, is only available with the Morrowind expansion. So, depending on the edition, you have the choice of four or five classes, which doesn't sound like much compared to other role-playing games. However, developer Bethesda sets a clear focus on balance and equilibrium here: The existing classes sufficiently cover melee and ranged combat, and there are also many options for customization within the character as usual.
