Making your stereo system WLAN-enabled - How it works

If you want to upgrade your old stereo or HiFi system to integrate it into your network so that you can use the streaming services of Tidal, Deezer or Spotify, for example, you will need an adapter.

How to upgrade your stereo

With a WLAN or Bluetooth adapter for your stereo or HiFi system, you can integrate it into the home network. Adapters are available from various manufacturers and for every budget. With the following adapters, you can upgrade your stereo and make it WLAN-enabled:
  1. Google Chromecast: The cheapest option at just under 40€ is Google Chromecast. Chromecast offers you very good sound quality for its small price. To control and set up the device, you use an app that you can install on your smartphone or tablet. For starters, this device is especially recommended because of its low price.
  2. Raumfeld Connector: At around 240€, the Raumfeld Connector 2 from Teufel is in the next higher price range after the Google Chromecast. The Connector uses a high-end D/A converter from Cirrus Logic, so you get low-noise, high-resolution sound quality. You can also set up a multi-room setup with the Connector. The device is controlled via a free app, which is available for iOS and Android.
  3. Sonos Connect: Starting at around 380€, the Sonos Connect is in the upper league in terms of price. In addition to high sound quality, the device also offers you features such as multi-room support. If you connect the Sonos Connect with an Amazon Echo or Dot, you can even voice-control your Hi-Fi system. The Connect is controlled via a free app.
