MacOS: Clean install - this is how it works effectively
If a new update of the operating system is pending, then it may make sense that you reinstall it. This is because the new installation will help you escape problems that may arise due to fragments of the old operating system. Therefore, you should make the effort and go for a clean install.
This is how a Clean install works
To speak of a clean operation, the update of the operating system must be done on an empty SSD or hard drive.- Before you start the update, you should first make a backup of your files. For this, you can use the Apple Time Machine or copy the data to an external drive.
- Now use an 8 GB stick and create the installation routine of the operating system version you want to install on it.
- Select "MacOS Utilities", start Disk Utility and wipe the entire hard drive or SSD.
- Confirm that you want to permanently delete all existing data and check the hard drive.
- Now start the clean installation of the desired operating system. Select the cleaned hard drive as the destination for the installation.
- Follow the instructions for installation and then restart the Mac.
