Extortion Trojans: How dangerous they are
Extortion Trojans are also called ransomware, extortion software, crypto Trojans or encryption Trojans. They give the intruder access to the computer's data, with the use of which the hacker can paralyze the entire system.
This is an extortion Trojan
The name "extortion Trojan" already reflects the basic function of ransomware very figuratively. Extortion Trojans occupy certain functions of your software and release them only after payment of an extorted sum. The functions are then, so to speak, the hostages of the Trojan.- If you detect an extortion Trojan on your PC, you must immediately disconnect your computer from the network.
- Afterwards, it is best to turn off the computer completely. This way you will contain the infections caused by the Trojan. After that, you can turn on the computer again to back up the entire hard drive on an external data carrier, for example, on an external hard drive.
- After that, you have a backup of all your data and can accordingly reset the computer to its original state. If the ransomware blocks complete access to your PC, there is the free program Kaspersky WindowsUnlocker. It at least releases general access to your computer again.
