Reddit: What is Modmail? We explain it and show you how to use it

On Reddit, all content is created or linked to by users. This high level of activity leads to an equally high need for order and overview. The moderators, known as mods for short, are responsible for this within the individual subreddits.

And understandably, there are always problems with users, whether because they feel they have been treated unfairly, have uploaded inadmissible content or have noticed a supposed breach of the rules.

• In these cases, users are encouraged to contact the mods to clarify the matter.
• The preferred tool for this is called Modmail. The peculiarity of Modmail is that the user's message will not only reach one mod, but all mods of the subreddit.
• If you want to contact mods in this way, you will find the option to do so in the main view of the subreddit, usually by the listing of mods in the side panel. The exact location for this may vary, as subreddits are allowed to use their own CSS designs.

Alternatively, you can also send messages to individual mods, though the use of modmail is explicitly required in many subreddits. In fact, via modmail, moderators can also communicate with each other, which makes it much easier to handle user requests.
